How to install Jovii
Choose your device. Each guide takes a few minutes, and you only do it once.
Android phone or tablet
Jovii for Android comes from this website, not from Google Play, so Android asks you to allow the install once.
- On your phone or tablet, open Downloads and tap Download APK.
If Chrome says the file might be harmful, tap Download anyway. Chrome shows that for any APK file downloaded from a website.
- Open the file.
Tap the download notification, or find Jovii.apk in the Files app under Downloads.
- Allow installs from your browser.
Android shows For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source. Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then go back.
- Tap Install.
If Google Play Protect offers to scan the app, let it scan, then continue.
- Open Jovii and sign in.
Use your email and password. On a new device we email you a 6-digit code; type it in, then give the device a name.
Before the app is out: open the web app in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu and choose Add to Home screen or Install app. Open Jovii from the new icon and sign in there.
Android TV and Google TV
For Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia Shield, onn. boxes and TVs with Android TV or Google TV built in. The easiest way is the free Downloader app.
- Install Downloader.
On the TV, open Google Play (or search with the remote) and install Downloader by AFTVnews.
- Turn on developer mode.
Go to Settings, System, About. Select Android TV OS build seven times, until the TV says you are now a developer.
- Download Jovii.
Open Downloader and type the address jovii.tv/tv. Select Go.
- Allow Downloader to install apps.
When the TV asks, select Settings and switch Downloader to Allowed. Go back and select Install.
- Open Jovii and sign in.
It appears under Apps. Sign in with your email and password and type the code we email you. You can delete the downloaded file in Downloader afterwards.
On older Android TV models the switch is under Settings, Device Preferences, Security & restrictions, Unknown sources. Menu names vary a little between makes.
No Downloader? Copy the APK from Downloads to a USB stick, plug it into the TV and open it with a file manager app from Google Play. The same allow-and-install steps follow.
Fire TV
For Fire TV Sticks, Fire TV Cube and Fire TV smart TVs that run Fire OS. Newer models on Vega OS, like the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, can't install the app.
- Install Downloader.
Search for Downloader on the home screen and install it from the Amazon Appstore.
- Allow Downloader to install apps.
Go to Settings, My Fire TV, Developer options, Install unknown apps and turn Downloader on. If Developer options is missing, open Settings, My Fire TV, About and select your Fire TV's name seven times first.
- Download Jovii.
Open Downloader, type the address jovii.tv/tv and select Go.
- Select Install.
Then open Jovii from Your Apps & Channels and sign in.
iPhone and iPad
There's no App Store app. The web app, added to your Home Screen, opens full screen like any other app.
- Open app.jovii.tv in Safari.
- Tap the Share button and choose Add to Home Screen.
If you see Open as Web App, leave it on. Then tap Add.
- Open Jovii from the new icon and sign in there, not in Safari.
The Home Screen app and Safari count as two devices, so signing in to Safari first uses an extra place.
Mac, Windows, Linux or Chromebook
Jovii runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Installing it gives it its own window and icon.
- Open app.jovii.tv.
- Install it, if your browser offers to.
Chrome and Edge: the install icon in the address bar, or the menu's Install option. Safari on macOS Sonoma or later: File, Add to Dock. Firefox: keep using the tab.
- Open the installed app and sign in there.
After installing
Install first, then sign in
Each app and each browser you sign in on takes one device place: 3 on Jovii, 6 on Jovii Plus, 10 on Jovii Premium. Sign in inside the installed app, so the browser doesn't take a place as well.
Signing in on a TV QR sign-in coming soon
Type your email and password with the remote, then the 6-digit code we email you. Soon the TV will show a QR code instead: scan it with your phone, confirm, and the TV signs in.
Updating
Download the new version from Downloads the same way and install it over the old one. Your sign-in, profiles and library stay put. On a TV, use Downloader again.
Uninstalling
Remove Jovii like any app: press and hold its icon (on a TV, open Settings, Apps). This doesn't free its device place; remove the device in the app under Settings, Devices, or it goes by itself after 30 days unused.
